Army pays tribute to soldier martyred in Shopian encounter

Srinagar, May 17 (UNI) The Army on Friday paid rich tribute to a soldier martyred in an encounter with security forces in south Kashmir district of Shopian.
Official sources said sepoy Rohit Kumar Yadav, who attained martyrdom in an encounter with militants on Thursday evening, was paid a befitting tribute by the Army.

Two Hizbul Mujahideen (HM) militants and a civilian were killed in the encounter, which ensued after security forces launched a Cordon and Search Operation (CASO) in village Handew in Shopian on Thursday.

They said homage was paid to the martyred hero in a solemn wreath laying ceremony at Badami Bagh Cantonment in Srinagar.

“General Officer Commanding (GOC) of 15 Corps Lt Gen K J S Dhillon, laid wreaths on behalf of the Corps Commander and all ranks of the Corps,” they said, adding that tributes were also paid by officials from civil administration and other security agencies.

Srinagar, Jun 5 (UNI) Alleging that fresh recruitment rules are anti-youth and against the constitution, Jammu and Kashmir Apni Party (JKAP) chief Syed Mohammad Altaf Bukhari said on Friday that it was completely prejudicial in nature and should be rolled back and modified in accordance with the standard rules governing the recruitment process across the country.
