Amend GO to release Muslims langushing in prisons : CPI(ML) urges TN govt

Puducherry, Nov 30 (UNI) The Puducherry unit of the Communist Party of India (Marxist-Leninst) on Tuesday urged the Tamil Nadu government to amend its November 15 Government Order, enabling the release of Muslims languishing in prisons for a longer period.
Welcoming the TN Government Order 488 to release the convicted prisoners who are languishing in the prisons for more than 20 years,CPI(ML) State Secretary S Balasubramanian in a statement, however, said that it is regrettable that there is no provision in the GO for the release of 38 Muslims, three brothers of sandalwood smuggler Veerappan and the seven Rajiv Gandhi assassins who spent more than 30 years in prisons.
This is against all norms of law, he alleged.
