Nabin announces general secretary (organisation) for states- RSS leaders who connect Sangh and BJP

New Delhi, Sep 24 (UNI) A day after appointing state in-charges and their deputies, BJP president Nitin Nabin on Thursday named general secretaries (organisation)-Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) leaders who serve as the key link between the Sangh and its political arm, the BJP.

The appointments come ahead of elections in several key states. Notably, two leaders in the central party organisation under BJP national general secretary (organisation) B.L. Santhosh-national joint general secretaries (organisation) Shivprakash and Saudan Singh-have been given charge of Andhra Pradesh, Maharashtra, Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh and Goa, and Bihar, Jharkhand, Odisha and West Bengal, respectively.

Key election-bound states-Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand and Punjab-will be overseen by Dharampal, Phanindranath Sharma and Manthri Srinivasulu, respectively. Srinivasulu will also look after Chandigarh. Pawan Rana has been given charge as state general secretary (organisation) in Haryana and Delhi. In Himachal Pradesh, RSS veteran Siddharthan will handle the affairs of the BJP organisation. Some key states, such as West Bengal and Maharashtra have been given additional manpower.

Amitabh Chakraborty is the state Gen Secy (organization) for West Bengal BJP national sangathak V. Satish will take charge of organisational affairs in the party's Scheduled Tribe (ST) and Scheduled Caste (SC) morchas. He has also been made in-charge of the party's Parliament office. In the BJP's organisational structure, the post of general secretary (organisation) is held by RSS leaders. Santhosh, who heads the party's organisational hierarchy, acts as a link between the BJP and the Sangh and operates from the party's central office in Delhi.

The post of the national general secretary (organisation) is an important position within the BJP. Designated for a full-time RSS pracharak deputed to the BJP, his responsibility, apart from providing support during elections, is also to ensure that the political party remains aligned with its core ideological principles and maintain checks and balances between the cadre and political leadership.

While the BJP president and his team handle external politics, alliance management and public strategy, the general secretary (organisation) oversees the internal party machinery, with a focus on ground-level workers and volunteers who form the backbone of election campaigns.
