INDIA Bloc announces Save Democracy marches across India from October 2

New Delhi, Sep 30 (UNI) The INDIA bloc has decided to intensify its protest against Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar. Addressing a press conference on Wednesday after a meeting of the alliance, Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge announced the next phase of the campaign, saying that opposition parties would jointly launch a nationwide movement to protect democracy.

According to Kharge, 'Save Democracy' marches will be held at the district level from October 2 to October 8. On October 6, opposition MPs will march to the Election Commission. In the second week of October, INDIA bloc leaders will seek an appointment with the President. He also said the alliance would organise five major rallies, including a large rally in Delhi on November 1, where issues related to alleged 'vote theft' would be highlighted. The alliance has also demanded that the Supreme Court expedite the disposal of all cases related to the revision of electoral rolls.

Kharge said the meeting held an extensive discussion on the issue of 'vote theft', with leaders of all alliance parties presenting their views. Leader of Opposition in the Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi said the opposition would not remain silent on the issue. He said all INDIA bloc leaders were personally committed to ensuring action against those who, according to them, undermine democracy. Rahul said Indian democracy is bigger than any individual in the country. He also claimed that the opposition had succeeded in raising the issue of alleged irregularities in elections among the public and that a sense of resistance over the issue was growing among young people.

Describing opposition leaders as collective guardians of the Constitution, Rahul said the country would witness significant changes in the coming months. It may be recalled that Congress and other opposition parties have once again mobilised, demanding the resignation of Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar.
