Turkish police seize 5,829 historical artifacts, detain 11 suspects

Ankara, Sep 29 (UNI/Xinhua) Turkish security forces seized 5,829 historical artifacts and detained 11 suspected smugglers in large-scale operations conducted across the country, local media reported on Wednesday.
Police units launched simultaneous operations in five provinces, including Istanbul and Ankara, against historical artifact smugglers, the Demiroren news agency said.
The pieces reportedly belonged to the late Roman, Byzantine, Ottoman, and Turkish-Islamic eras were found in operations and put on display at the Istanbul Police Department headquarter.
