Triple Gold for Anura in Railways Championship

Panaji, Aug 10 (UNI) Goa's Anura Prabhu Desai, brand ambassador of Geno Plarmaceuticals, emerged triple Gold winner in the 66th All India Railways Badminton Championships 2018.
According to a statement from Goa Badminton Association here, Anura won the Individuals Women's Singles and doubles Gold. In Women's singles Anura defeated Riya Mokerjee 21-19, 19-21, 21-7.
In women's doubles, Anura along with her partner Kanika Kanwal won with their opponents Riya Mookerjee who had suffered a hamstring injury earlier and P Sonika Sai conceding the match.
Anura's Team Northern Railways won the Team championship event defeating Central Railways 2-1 (Anura bt Saili Rane 21-15, 21-14, Anura / Kanika lost to Saili Rane / Dhanya Nair 17-21, 21-18, 21-23, Kanika bt Dhanya Nair 21-12, 21-10).

Jakarta, Aug 17 (UNI) As the 20-year old javelin champion Neeraj Chopra leads Indian contingent into the 18th Asian Games here on Saturday with fans back home hoping and praying for the country’s 800 plus athletes to do well in these continental quadrennial sporting extravaganza, the controversial pull out by Leander Paes has somewhat dampened the spirits.
