Three police personnel including City SP injured in anti-encroachment drive in Patna

Patna, July 3 (UNI) Three officers, including City SP central Ambrish Rahul, were injured in a clash with locals on Sunday when the administration began bulldozing houses in Rajiv Nagar's Nepalinagar under the Digha police station to free the land from encroachment.
District Magistrate Chandrashekhar Singh who rushed to the spot after the clash and violent resistance by the locals, admitted that the City SP central along with two police personnel sustained injuries of minor nature in the violent action by the locals during the demolition drive launched under anti-encroachment drive. The injured police personnel were being treated.
He said that some Anti-Social elements and trouble mongers who had joined the protesters pelted stones when the illegal Constructions were being razed.
He said that nearly 12 such elements have been arrested and the others were being identified through the CCTV footage. FIR would be lodged against the trouble mongers and action would be taken against them, he informed.

The DM claimed that the situation was under control and the security personnel initially had to resort to minor lathi-charge and lobbed tear gas shells to disperse the agitating crowd.
He said that 90 structures in Nepali Nagar area which were under construction have to be demolished and only 4 to 5 completely constructed pucca houses would also be demolished under the drive.
The residents of the pucca-constructed house were given notice and were provided ample time to make alternative arrangements and vacate the house constructed on the encroached land.
The DM said that the land belongs to the housing board which was being sold to some innocent people by some land mafias and anti-social elements.
He said that the drive would continue and the identified structures would be demolished to free the land of the housing board from illegal encroachment.
