Smuggled goods worth Rs 5.29 lakhs seized in Manipur

Imphal, Jan 22 (UNI) Tengnoupal Battalion of Assam Rifles on Saturday foiled cross border smuggling near Kwatha village in Tengnoupal district in Manipur Myanmar border and seized goods worth Rs 5.29 lakhs.
Assam Rifles said during a border domination patrol, troops of Assam Rifles uncovered a large number of packages concealed in thick foliage in the forest. On thorough search of the packages, illegal goods including betel nuts, liquor, cigarettes and footwear items were recovered. The smuggled items were assessed to be worth Rs 5.29 Lakh. The recovered contraband items were handed over to the Customs Department, Moreh.

Drug worth Rs 1 32 crore seized in Churachandpur
