Police said here today that villagers noticed police sub inspector Nishikant Upadhyay posted at Thawe police station entering into a house purportedly to meet his paramour by taking the advantage of darkness prompting the former to make the police officer hostage and beat him badly. Sources said the police officer faced accusation of visiting a village to meet a girl.
Gopalganj police superintendent Manoj Kumar Tiwari promptly ordered an inquiry into the entire episode. Police officers rushed to the spot to rescue the police officer from the captivity of villagers.
As it is, villagers had caught police sub inspector who was posted at Kuchaikot police station in compromising position with a girl red handed in 2018. Villagers had handed him over to the police after beating him. The then police superintendent had suspended the erring police officer.
