PM lacks integrity: Rahul

PM lacks integrity: Rahul

Nagpur, Jun 13 (UNI) Congress president Rahul Gandhi on Wednesday said Prime Minister Narendra Modi lacked integrity over farmers' issues.

Addressing the public after paying homage to late Dadaji Khobragade, HMT rice innovator, who died last week, he drew comparison between the current BJP-led NDA government and the previous UPA government

and said that the UPA government had waived loans worth Rs 70,000 crore and provided every help it could, on the contrary, the Modi government has not announced any loan waiver for famers during last four years of its rule.

He further said that the Congress governments in Karnataka and Punjab had waived farm loans.

The Prime Minister had assured to give proper rates to farmers for their agri produce and questioned whether they were getting the same?

Citing example of Mr Khobragade, the Congress chief said that he had invented the HMT rice variety through research at his place but the country did not help him, he claimed.

"Mr Modi gives them (such people) award but doesn't help them," Mr Gandhi said and pointed that, "If he had really been helped, the picture would have been different."

Claiming that Mr Modi was giving India's money to the country's rich, he said ask them about how much employment they had generated in the country?

Mr Gandhi alleged that Mr Modi has a deal with about 15-20 rich people who handle his entire marketing in return for waiving of their loans.

Claiming that diamond trader Nirav Modi ran away with Rs 35,000 crore that Mr Modi gave him, he said, "Had Mr Khobragade been given Rs 5 crore, he would have generated 5,000 jobs."

"If we come to power, we will set up food processing units. Produce will directly go there and youths will get jobs," Mr Gandhi said when a villager asked about his agenda on employment as Mr Modi advised

the youths to sell 'pakoras'.
