PM holds council of mins' meet to review flagship schemes

New Delhi, Jun 13 (UNI) Keeping in view the 2019 Lok Sabha elections, the Governemt on Wednesday reviewed the progress of its flagship schemes while outlining the agenda for the last year of the current NDA rule .

Faced with problems if rising prices of petrol and diesel, rising inflation rate and farmers distress , Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday held a meeting with his council of ministers to discuss the current social , political and economic situation in the country.

Sources said that the meeting, held in Parliament house immediately after the meeting of the Cabinet, reviewed the progress of various govenrmet schemes like Midra Yojana, Ayushmann Bharat, Jan Dhan Yojana and Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojana.

Sources said the meeting also discussed steps to speed up the development work and increase the pace of the implementation of the schemes and for implementing them effectively.

Nearly all the ministers took part in the meeting and informed about the progress of the implementation of schemes pertaining to their ministries.

The meeting of council of ministers, being held after a gap of seven months, comes in the backdrop of the recent setback in bypolls conducted in many states.

Sources said that in view of the coming Lok Sabha elections, the Government is making all possible efforts to ensure that the benefit of various government schemes reaches the people.
