Pant to depart for England as cover for injured Dhawan, but will have to wait

New Delhi, Jun 12 (UNI) Rishabh Pant will travel to England for the ICC Cricket World Cup as cover for the injured Shikhar Dhawan, but will have to wait to be part of the 15-member India squad.

India, play their third match against New Zealand on Thursday at Nottingham. Pant will reach England on Wednesday. He will not be in the team unless the team management decides Dhawan to rule out of the World Cup

According to ICC Rule, once the player is out of the team, he cannot be included back in the team unless the other player is injured.

Dhawan who hit a century against Australia on Sunday which India won is currently having hairline fracture on his left thumb. But Shikhar is with team India and is under observation.

On Tuesday there were reports that Dhawan's thumb fracture he will be out of action for three weeks and will be out of the World Cup. But till late evening there were developments that he will not play New Zealand and Pakistan matches.

In the night there were reports that Dhawan will be part of the Team India and before the final decision

his thumb injury will further be monitored.

The BCCI and the Selection Committee will monitor his finger injury for the next two matches and will take the final decision.
