Bhubaneswar, Aug 15 (UNI) Odisha has achieved several milestones in various fields during the last 75 years and shown a road map for the country, Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik said.
Unfurling the National Flag at the state-level celebrations at Exhibition Ground here on Monday Patnaik said during the last 75 years the country had achieved milestones to compete with developed countries in the field of agriculture, education, health, science and technology, industry and research.
Odisha too, he said also during the last 75 years has progressed much in the field of development at par with the developed nations in the world.
A new transformation has begun in Odisha and the state has become a food surplus state from food deficit, emerged as a model for the whole world in disaster management, created an identity as a sports hub and empowered 70 lakh, women, in the state.
Patnaik said on the 75th anniversary of the country's independence, about 3000 infrastructure development projects have been laid in the rural areas in all the 30 districts in the state.
The Chief Minister said after the food security the aim of the state is to achieve nutrition security adding that the Millet Mission has been extended to 19 districts with an investment of Rs 2800 crore.
He said Odisha is the land of Lord Jagannath and the people of the state rising above the regional mindset have worked for the nationalistic spirit.
Patnaik said in another 25 years the country would celebrate the centenary celebration of Independence for which we have to prepare right now to contribute to the development of the country.
Patnaik on the occasion also extended his greetings and wishes to the people of the state, paid tributes to the freedom fighters while recalling their great contribution and sacrifice for achieving freedom.
