Naidu gets interim bail on medical ground in Skill Development case

Vijayawada, Oct 31 (UNI) Former Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu, who has been in the Rajahmundry central prison for the past 52 days in the Skill Development scam case, got a respite on Tuesday as AP High Court granted him interim bail on medical ground till November 28.
High Court judge Justice Tallapragada Mallikarjuna Rao delivered the verdict granting four weeks interim bail to Chandrababu Naidu on medical ground.
The High Court in the verdict said, "The petitioner has suffered from Erythematous Papular rash. The Medical Report dated 14.10.2023 submitted by team of doctors after conducting medical examination of the petitioner reveals that the petitioner is a known case of Diabetes Mellitus from 15 years and is under continuous treatment and also suggests that he is a known case of Hypertrophic Obstructive Cardiomyopathy and was treated with cardiac."
73-year-old Chandrababu Naidu underwent cataract operation for left eye and the doctor advised that he has to be operated on for the right. Siddhartha Luthra and Dammalapati Srinivas presented arguments on behalf of Naidu while P Sudhakar Reddy, Additional Advocate General argued on behalf of the state.
“Considering the painful and pressing nature of the petitioner's reported health conditions, and without delving into the merits of the case, this Court is inclined to grant ‘interim bail’ solely for the purpose of allowing the petitioner to undergo the necessary medical examination. The medical report clearly indicates that the petitioner requires cataract surgery on his right eye. Therefore, it is a reasonable proposition to permit him to seek treatment at the same hospital where he had the surgery for his left eye,” the court said in its verdict.
The court directed Naidu while granting bail to furnish a bail bond for Rs.1,00,000, provide details of medical treatment in hospital in a sealed cover to the Superintendent of Rajahmundry central prison and surrounded by 5 pm on November 28.
Meanwhile, TDP activists came to the streets across the state and celebrated the granting of bail by firing crackers. TDP leaders told the media that Naidu would be taken to Vijayawada from Rajahmundry central prison in a huge rally.
Naidu would go to hill shrine Tirumala to worship lord Venkateswara tomorrow or day after and proceed to Hyderabad from there, TDP leaders said. Naidu will get cataract operation to his right eye in the LV Prasad eye hospital in Hyderabad.
