MonkeyPox: Warning at international airports, including Dhaka

Dhaka, May 22 (UNI) Bangladesh Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) has issued warnings at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport in Dhaka and other international airports in the country, as per the directives of the Department of Health to prevent the spread of monkeypox.
The Airport Health department is working carefully in this regard. Screening is intensified, especially on passengers from affected countries. No such patient was identified at the airport till Sunday, officials said.
Officials said the warning was issued in a circular signed by Nazmul Islam, Director of the Health department's Disease Control branch. If there was any suspicion or symptoms like monkeypox in the body of a passenger coming from abroad, he should be arranged for isolation in the nearest hospital or infectious disease hospital.
On detection of monkeypox symptoms in the body of a foreign passenger at the airport, it should be immediately reported to the government's Institute of Pathology, Disease Control and Research (IEDCR), they added.
Executive Director of Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport Group, Captain Kamrul Islam said the airport Health department was working carefully to prevent the spread of monkeypox.
Passengers were filling health cards to identify Covid-19 at the airport. The Department of Health was also being contacted about filling up the health card (health card) of the passengers in case of detection of monkeypox, he added.
The World Health Organisation (WHO) on Saturday reported the spread of monkeypox in 12 countries around the world. European countries such as the United Kingdom, Spain, Portugal, Germany, Belgium, France, the Netherlands, Italy, Sweden, the United States, Canada and Australia have reported monkeypox cases so far.
