New Delhi, Jan 8 (UNI) A Bill to provide for the regulation of use and application of DNA technology for the purposes of establishing the identity of certain categories of persons including victims, offenders, suspects, undertrials, missing persons and unknown deceased persons was passed in the Lok Sabha on Tuesday.
Replying after a discussion on the DNA Technolgy (Use and Application) Regulation Bill, 2018, Union Science & Technology Minister Harsh Vardhan said the Bill has taken care of privacy issue and it has been addressed and there is a protection of information under the Bill.
Taking part in the discussion on the Bill, Congress member Shashi Tharoor had objected over the issue of privacy and said DNA profiles can be misused.
