Gurugram becomes first city of North India to get GIS Mapping

Chandigarh, Mar 20 (UNI) Gurugram has become first city of North India to get done GIS Mapping, which would not only become the base for master services of water, sewerage, power and roads, but it would also be help in putting a check on criminal activities and unauthorised construction in the city.
Stating this on Tuesday, Gurugram Metropolitan Development Authority (GMDA) Chief Executive Officer V Umashakar said One Map Gurugram was being prepared by GMDA by taking satellite imagery to create a common infrastructure of government departments in Gurugram.
He said resolution of 50 centimetres was being received through satellite imagery and after validation from drone mapping, 5 centimetre resolution imagery would be received. The validation work was expected to get completed by the end of April, 2018 thereafter the complete information of GIS Mapping would be uploaded on public domain.
