Hyderabad, Sept 16 (UNI) : The first meeting of the newly constituted Congress Working Committee (CWC), the highest decision-making body of the Congress, began with flag hoisting at a star hotel here on Saturday.
A strategy for upcoming assembly polls in five states – Telangana, Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh and Mizoram-in the country, will be discussed in the meeting.
This is the first meeting of the reconstituted Congress Working Committee, under Mallikarjun Kharge's presidency.
Rahul Gandhi, Sonia Gandhi, Priyanka Gandhi Vadra besides all senior leaders who arrived in Hyderabad today, attended the meeting, which will focus on the upcoming elections in five states.
The meeting will also discuss the strategy to be adopted for the net year’s general elections.
The meeting assumes significance as it is being held in the backdrop of formation of Indian National Developmental Inclusive Alliance (INDIA).
The CWC will hold an extended meeting on Sunday with all PCC presidents and CLP leaders.
A mega public rally will be held on the outskirts of Hyderabad on Sunday evening, which will be addressed by top party leaders. The party will unveil its six guarantees for Telangana.
On Friday, AICC General Secretaries KC Venugopal alleged that Telangana was the most corrupt state in the country.
He asserted that not only will the Congress win in Telangana, but all the five states which are going to polls in coming months.
General Secretary in charge communications Jairam Ramesh had earlier said CWC meetings were always held in Delhi and it was for the first time, it was being held outside Delhi.
Terming Modi and KCT as two sides of same coin, Jairam said “ as BRs has supported BJP in passing of almost all the bills in parliament and continues to support the saffron party and AIMIM eing the coalition partners of BRS,Congress will work to defeat these ‘anti democratic ‘ parties.
He said Congress will come to power in all the five states.
