COVID-19: Marathwada registers 1,116 new cases
Aurangabad, Mar 7 (UNI) The eight districts of Marathwada region of Maharashtra reported 1,116 new cases of COVID-19 during the past 24 hours, this figure is said to be the highest in recent days, health authorities informed on Sunday.
The authorities also said that 10 more patients succumbed during the same period.
Details from all the district headquarters collected by UNI show that out of the eight districts of the region Aurangabad was worst affected. Aurangabad recorded 440 cases and five deaths, followed by Beed which registered 108 new cases and two deaths, Nanded registered 150 new cases and a single death, Parbhani recorded 86 cases and single death, Hingoli registered 27 cases and single death, while Jalna registered 197 new cases, Latur had 80 new cases and Osmanabad 27 new cases.
As per official data, 10,187 fresh COVID-19 patients were reported from Maharashtra while 47 more deaths took place in the state, taking the cumalative tally of cases to 22,08,586 and the death toll to 52,440 respectively.
On the other hand, 6,082 patients were discharged during the day across the state, taking the overall count of recoveries to 20,62,031.
There are currently 92,897 active cases in the state.
With this, the recovery rate in the state stands at 93.36 per cent while the death rate stands at 2.36 per cent, sources in the Health Department said.
