Cauvery dispute: TN govt's plea not maintainable, says Siddaramaiah

Cauvery dispute: TN govt's plea not maintainable, says Siddaramaiah

Bengaluru, Aug 24 (UNI) Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah on Thursday said the state government will argue the matter in Supreme Court because the petition filed by Tamil Nadu government asking for release of Cauvery water is not maintainable.
"Karnataka will argue the matter because the Tamil Nadu government has filed a petition asking water to be released. According to our stand, the petition filed by the Tamil Nadu government is not maintainable because the Supreme Court has already given a final verdict on the Cauvery water dispute between Tamil Nadu and Karnataka on 25th February 2018," he told reporters here.
Siddaramaiah further said in the normal year Karnataka is supposed to release 177.25 tmc of water from Biligundlu, but the amount of water to be released in distress has not been fixed because the distress formula has not been defined.
