BJP MP returns Apple I-Phone given to MPs by Karnataka Government

Bengaluru, Jul 17 (UNI) BJP Rajya Sabha Member Rajeev Chandrashekar has decided to return the Rs one lakh worth Apple I-phone sent to all Karnataka MPs along with some documents by the Karnataka government requesting them to attend a meeting called by Chief Minister H D Kumaraswamy in Delhi on July 18 to discuss problems regarding Cauvery river water and other problems relating to the State.
In a open letter written to the Chief Minister, the MP has said that he welcomed the move to conduct the meeting of parliamentarians to discuss the issues relating to the State and would attend it. But it was surprising that the Chief Minister had sent a expensive Apple I-phone to all the MPs along with relevant documents relating to the meeting.
‘’You have called for austerity measures and asked the Ministers, Legislators and government servants to avoid unnecessary expenditure, while farmers are facing problems and local government not able to pay wages to Municipal workers as witnessed in Bengaluru. As my self consciousness is not agreeing to accept this I-Phone I am returning it,’’ he said in the letter.
