Melbourne, Jan 21 (UNI) Tokyo Olympic champion Alexander Zverev of Germany moved into Australian Open Round of 16 after beating qualifier Modova's Radu Albot on Friday.
The world No.3 defeated the Moldovian 6-3, 6-4, 6-4 in under two hours in the round three contest at the John Cain Arena.
"Radu is in great form right now. I'm happy to be through in three sets. Didn't feel perfect, but who is perfect?" said Zverev after the match.
In another match, 14th seed Denis Shapovalov of Canada got better of American Reilly Opelka 7-6(4), 4-6, 6-3, 6-4.
Opelka saved four match points before Shapovalov closed out the match in three hours and two minutes.
"It was definitely a tough one out there against Reilly, you never know how it's going to go against a guy like that," said Shapovalov.
Shapovalov and Zverev will lock horns with in the pre-quarterfinal clash.
