Zeliangrong Naga of Manipur celebrates Gaan-Ngai festival

Imphal, Jan 12 (UNI) The Zeliangrong Naga of Manipur is celebrating Gaan-Ngai festival in a grand way this year.
The post harvest festival is celebrated for five days from January 10 to 14 in traditional gaiety and religious fervor.
Grand feasts are organised and the Naga people wearing their beautiful traditional attires present cultural programmes.
The entire valley areas of Manipur and the hill areas at Noney and Tamenglong districts wore a festive look in spite of the blockade imposed by the UNC.
The Naga community had appealed to the United Naga Council to relax the blockade which was not heeded.
Sacred fire by rubbing of woods was made and rituals offered to the forefathers for a bountiful year.
