YSRCP, TDP regimes failed to complete Veligonda project: Cong

Ongole, April 22 (UNI) Andhra Pradesh Congress Committee (APCC) President YS Sharmla alleged that the incumbent YSRCP and the erstwhile TDP regimes have failed to complete the very important Veligonda project.
Addressing an election meeting at Yerragondapalem on Monday, she recalled that the then Chief Minister YS Rajasekhar Reddy started the PS Veligonda project. After his death, the successive Chief Ministers failed to complete the project. If the Veligonda project was completed, it would provide irrigation water to 4.50 lakh acres and supply drinking water to over 15 lakh people. She claimed that 60% of Veligonda project works had been completed when YS Rajasekhar Reddy was the CM.
“Jagan Mohan Reddy, when he was in the Opposition, criticized the then Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu for the tardy works of the Veligonda project. Jagan Reddy assured of completing the project works by six months, if he was voted to power. During the last five years, the works of the project have been going in a snail phase,” she slammed and questioned whether these are the heirs of YS Rajasekhar Reddy.
