Y Poornasri of Tamil Nadu sets new national record in snatch

Chandigarh, Oct 20 (UNI) Y Poornasri of Tamil Nadu created a new national record in snatch by lifting 78 kg, breaking old record of Rutuja Patil of Maharashtra (77 kg) in 64 kg category for youth girls in the Youth and Junior National Weightlifting Championships at Kal Chakra Maidan, Bodh Gaya. on Saturday.
Y Poornasri won gold medal with a total lift of 173 kg while Navdeep Kaur did proud to Punjab by claiming silver medal with a total lift of 156 kg. Debaki Khilla (Odisha ) got silver with a total lift of 154 kg.
In the Junior women 64 kg section Y Shilheinganbi of Manipur grabbed gold medal with a total lift of 182 kg. Manipur also claimed silver medal in this category as P. Umeshwori Devi who gave tough fight to Shilheinganbi before settling for silver with 181 kg, one kg less than the gold medallist. The bronze medal went to Prajakta Khalkar (Maharashtra) who lifted 176 kg.
Kant Kumar of Uttar Pradesh emerged winner with a total lift of 250 kg in the youth boys in 7 3 kg category in the Kiran Ravindra Marathe, representing Maharashtra, claimed silver with a lotal lift of 249 kg while Shiva Chaudhary of Delhi will take home bronze medal after registering a total lift 246 kg.
Ragala Varun of Andhra Pradesh lifted a total of 272 kg to claim gold medal in the Junior men (73 kg) class. Manoja Kumar Sahu from Odisha lifted 267 kg for silver and Abhishek Nipane of Maharashtra bagged bronze with a total lift of 264 kg.

Youth Boys (73 kg): 1 Kant Kumar (Uttar Pradesh) Total lift 250 kg; 2 Kiran Ravindra Marathe (Maharashtra) total lift 249 kg; 3 Shiva Chaudhary (Delhi) total lift 246 kg.
Junior Men (73 kg): 1 Ragala Varun (Andhra Pradesh) total lift 272 kg; 2 Manoja Kumar Sahu (Odisha) total lift 267 kg; 3 Abhishek Nipane (Maharashtra) total lift 264 kg.

Youth Girls (64 kg): 1 Y Poornasri (Tamil Nadu) total lift of 173 kg; 2 Navdeep Kaur (Punjab) total lift 156 kg; 3 Debaki Khilla (Odisha ) 154 kg.
Junior Women (64 kg): 1 Y Shilheinganbi (Manipur) total lift 182 kg; 2 P Umeshwori Devi (Manipur) 181 kg; 3 Prajakta Khalkar (Maharashtra) 176 kg.
