World's costliest superbike maker MV Agusta enters Guj

Ahmedabad, Jul 16 (UNI) Italian premium superbike maker MV Agusta, the manufacturers of world's costliest regular superbikes today announced its official entry in Gujarat.
Addressing a press conference on the occasion, Managing Director of the Indian subsidiary of the company MV Agusta India, Ajinkya Firodia said,''MV Agusta which makes various superbikes in the price range from Rs 17.70 lakh to Rs 50 lakh and engine power up to 200 BHP, with speed up to around 300 kmph has opened its first exclusive showroom in Gujarat here. Currently three types of bikes with two variants priced between Rs 17.7 lakh to 37.55 lakh are available here.''
These are F 3 -800 the most sold brand of the company in 800 cc and 148 bhp, Brutale 1090, a sporty superbike and the super premium F4, he said.
Mr Firodia said,''the company has launched in India in May this year with its first showroom at Pune. In Ahmedabad, we have opened the second Indian and first in Gujarat, showroom named Motoroyale. We plan to open our three more showrooms in India, in Bangalore (In August) and Delhi and Chennai (By End August or
September).''
He said Gujarat with good roads and purchasing capacity has a lot of potential for superbikes.
''It is evident from the fact that we sold eight such bikes on the very first day here today. It can be understood from the fact that our annual India target is just 250 and the total Indian annual sale of all such bikes stood at 13000 last year,'' he said.
''We are amazed to see that such costly bikes are also in good demand in rural parts of Gujarat as, of the 8 first-day-purchasers, though the majority five were from Ahmedabad yet the remaining three were from smaller places (one each from Junagadh, Nadiyad and Anand),'' the MD said.
Mr Firodiya said,''we have been informed that there was one such bike lover in Dahod district of the state who has a collection of over 200 superbikes. Even before the launch of MV Agusta in India, one bike lover in Surat bought a bike spending around 60 lakhs (including various duties ) via Nepal.''
He said the demand for such bikes was expanding in India is expected to cross 20000 annual sales mark by 2020.
Notably, Harley Davidson, the US based superbike makers, is the largest seller of such bikes but MV Agusta sales the costliest ones.
The other names in superbike segment are British company Triumph and Italian Ducati. Harley and Triumph are now making specialized bikes for India in India.
