Wellington, Feb 6 (UNI) Smriti Mandhana, who scripted history on Wednesday after she scored a 24-ball half century fastest by an Indian woman against New Zealand, couldn't do much, as the hosts won the match by 23 runs at Westpac Stadium, here.
While chasing 160 runs, the Indian women's team got off to a poor start as Priya Punia, who made her debut, was caught by Leigh Kasperek on Amy Satterthwaite's ball. Puniya was dismissed on a score of four runs.
The 23-run win gave New Zealand a 1-0 lead in the three-match T20I series. India women had earlier won the ODIs 2-1, which were part of the ICC Women Championship.
