Withdraw CAA, stop NRC, NPR; 20 Oppn parties demand to Modi Govt

New Delhi, Jan 13 (UNI) Amid widespread protests across the country against Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA), National Register of Citizens (NRC) and National Population Register (NPR), 20 opposition parties on Monday demanded the "withdrawal of the CAA and the immediate stoppage of the nationwide NRC/NPR".
Expressing "grave concern at the alarming deterioration in the livelihood status of of vast majority of the people due to complete mismanagement of the Indian economy by the Modi government", the opposition parties alleged that "instead of addressing these issues and provide relief to the people, the BJP has embarked on a dangerous course of sharpening communal polarisation".
"Soon after assuming office, the BJP has embarked on a dangerous course of sharpening communal polarisation and attacking democratic rights and Constitutional guarantees of the people affecting millions of people and marginalized communities", the opposition parties said in a resolution, which was passed in the meeting.
