Wheat and rice production increased by 97 and 87 percent in Bihar since 2005: Minister

Patna, Mar 1 (UNI) Bihar Agriculture Minister Amrendra Pratap Singh on Monday said with sustained efforts of the government, wheat and rice production have increased by 97 percent and 87 percent respectively in Bihar since the year 2005.
Mr Singh while replying to debate on budgetary demand of Agriculture Department for the financial year 2021-22 in Assembly, said that NDA government under visionary leadership of Chief Minister Nitish Kumar had made sustained efforts since 2005 after coming to power in Bihar to tap vast potential of agriculture sector in the state. With an ambitious aim of increasing the agro production and improving lots of farmers, Agriculture road maps were rolled out and at present third agriculture road map was in various stages of of execution, he added.
Mr Singh said that in the year 2019-20, the yielding of wheat was nearly 28 lakh metric tonnes which increased to 55.79 lakh metric tonnes in the year 2019-20, an increase of 97.62 percent. Similarly, the production of rice was 37.08 lakh metric tonnes in the year 2005-06 which increased to 69.5 3 lakh metric tons in the year 2019-20, an increase of 87 percent, he added.
