VIMUKTHI urges not to insist on child’s father’s name in school admissions

Vijayawada, June 27 (UNI) VIMUKTHI–a state level forum of survivors of trafficking and victims of Commercial Sexual Exploitation (Sex Workers) said that the school managements are insisting to the students to mention father’s name during school admissions and appealed to the Andhra Pradesh government to instruct the school managements not to insist to mention father’s name.
VIMUKTHI state leaders met Kesali Appa Rao, Chairperson for AP State Commission for Protection of Child Rights here on Tuesday and submitted a representation accordingly.
VIMUKTHI leaders said that as per the statistics of Andhra Pradesh State AIDS Control Society, there are 1.33 lakh women in prostitution. But, the NGOs claim that the number may rise to double as per unofficial estimates.
