Venkaiah slams Air India, Raju orders inquiry
New Delhi, Jun 28 (UNI) Union Minister for Urban Development M Venkaiah Naidu missed his appointments as the Air India pilot did not turn up on time and flight got delayed. After waiting for more than 75 minutes at the airport, Mr Naidu returned to his residence cancelling his prior appointments at Hyderabad. After Mr Naidu’s tweet, Minister for Civil Aviation Ashok Gajapathi Raju swung into action and ordered Air India to do the inquiry into the matter immediately and take action against those who were responsible for the entire episode. “Service disruptions are unacceptable and have to be eliminated. Have asked AI to inquire and take action on priority,” Mr Raju tweeted after Mr Naidu’s tweet. Earlier in the day, furious with incident and Air India’s mismanagement, Mr Naidu slammed the state-run airline for delaying a flight in which he was supposed to fly and causing him to miss an appointment. “I had to travel to Hyderabad by Air India AI544 which is to depart at 1315 hrs… was told on time... reached airport by 1230 hrs. Was informed at 1315 hrs that flight was delayed as d pilot had not yet come. Waited up to 1345 Hrs, boarding didn’t start. returned 2 home,” an angry Naidu tweeted. Demanding an explanation for the delay, he again tweeted, “Air India should explain how such things are happening. Transparency and accountability are the need of the hour. “Hope Air India understands that we are in the age of competition. Missed an important appointment.” UNI ADP SW AE 1921
