New Delhi, Jan 18 (UNI) Uttarakhand Chief Minister Trivendra Singh Rawat on Saturday met Defence Minister Rajnath Singh and discussed with him, the security and development of bordering areas in the state.
In a tweet, the Defence Ministry Office said, 'The Chief Minister of Uttarakhand, Shri Trivendra Singh Rawat called on Rakha Mantri, Shri @rajnathsingh in New Delhi today. @tsrawatbjp'.
The Chief Minister also urged the Union Minister to speed up the rescue operation for Indian Army jawan soldier Rajendra Singh Negi, who had slipped in the snow from the slightly elevated walkway 200 meters from an Army post in Gulmarg sector on January 8, at around 1915 hrs.
'Met Defence Minister Rajnath Singh ji and demanded safe recovery of missing soldier Rajendra Singh. Also discussed security and basic infrastructure development of the bordering areas of the state,' Mr Rawat tweeted in Hindi.
The soldier had slipped in snow during the routine patrolling and Line of Control dominating exercise in Gulmarg sector of Jammu and Kashmir.
The rescue operation is still on to trace Negi, who had joined the 11 Garhwal Rifles regiment in 2002.
He is a resident of Ambiwala Sainik Colony in Dehradun.
Mr Singh assured him of all cooperation from the Union government.
Earlier, the Chief Minister also met Rural Development Minister Narendra Singh Tomar, IT Minister Ravi Shankar Prasad, Jal Shakti Minister Gajendra Singh Sekhawat and Environment Minister Prakash Javadekar in the national capital.
