UT sees spike in Covid positive cases since last 24 hours

Puducherry, Oct 26 (UNI) Union Territory of Pudhucherry witnessed a surge in Coronavirus positive cases during the last 24 hours with 144 fresh cases have been reported.
In the recent days, the spurt of the positive cases were arrested, thanks to the efforts taken by the health department.
COVID fresh cases below 150 were reported since the last three days, with 128, 83 and 144 cases respectively had recorded.
According to the COVID 19 status released by the health department here on Monday, of the total of 1059 swab sample tests of persons conducted on Sunday, 144 people were tested positive for the virus.
About 127 new cases were reported in Puducherry region, two in Karaikal region, five in Yanam region and 10 in Mahe region.
Meanwhile,189 persons were discharged in the last 24 hours. 141 patients of them were from Puducherry region, 28 from Karaikal region and 20 from Yanam region.
Presently, 1,397 patients are being treated in Puducherry region, 55 in Karaikal region, 56 in Yanam region and 71 in Mahe region.
Another 2,179 persons, diagonised positive for the virus, were being treated in home isolation in all the four regions of the UT.
The case mortality rate in the UT stood at 1.71 per cent and the recovery rate is 87.34 per cent.
So far, 34,336 persons are infected by the virus and of which 29,990 were treated and discharged, 588 patients died and 3,758 people were undergoing treatment in hospitals and home islation.
