UP CM talks of projects with Netanyahu

Lucknow, Jan 16 (UNI) Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Tuesday said that he had a positive talk with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu about solid waste and water management in Uttar Pradesh, besides developing Basti and Kannauj as horticultural hubs.
'We had a positive talk about setting up two horticulture units in Kannauj and one in Basti. Israel has also agreed to pass on working knowledge on water management and solid waste management,' Mr Adityanath said in a statement here.
Both Mr Adityanath and Mr Netanyahu had over an hour-long luncheon meeting in Agra, where the leaders discussed about investment possibility and how Israel can transfer technology for the betterment of the state.
'Israel has also agreed to teach UP how to increase ground water level in Bundelkhand and how to use it for the betterment of the region,' he said, adding that during the last visit of Prime Minister Narendra Modi to Israel, he had talked about the possibility of transfer of knowledge to UP and this meeting was just an extension of that.
The Israeli Prime Minister, along with his wife Sara, visited the 17th century Mughal monument Taj Mahal on Tuesday.
Mr Netanyahu was received by Mr Adityanath at Kheria Airport. He was accorded a traditional welcome by Braj folk artists on his arrival at the airport. Local BJP MP Ramashanker Kateria and Agra Mayor Navin Jain were also present.
The Israeli couple, along with their 130-member delegation, spent some time at Hotel Amar Vilas after reaching Agra from New Delhi, before leaving for the monument of love in golf carts. In view of Mr Netanyahu's visit, the Taj Mahal remained closed for over two hours for tourists.
The couple stayed in the monument for around an hour.
UP authorities have turned Agra into a fortress, in view of the Israeli PM's visit. Heavy security arrangements were made, with over 1,500 security personnel guarding the five-km stretch, the Israeli PM travelled.
Personnel from the CRPF, Rapid Action Force and Police have been deployed, while security has been tightened in and around Agra, in view of Mr Netanyahu's visit.
