Unseasonal rains claim 4 lives in Nashik

Nashik, Apr 15 (UNI) Four persons, including a woman, were killed when lightning struck to them in two places in the district.

The first incident took place some youths were playing cricket Sunday evening. Suddenly it started to rain heavily and the youth started running helter-skelter. However, three of them took shelter under a nearby tree when lightning struck killing them on the spot.

Police said, the deceased were identified as Sagar Ganpat Gave (19), Anil Vishwnath Gave (32), Rohit Hiraman Gaikawad (17) all are from Manori village in Dindori taluka.

In another incident, a 40-year-old woman, Janabai Rajane was killed when lightning struck her at Khadak Ojhar village in Chandwad tehsil.

The unseasonal rain also lashed other parts of the district including-- Trimbakleshwar, Igatpuri, Malegaon, Baglan, Deola and Chandwad tehsils. The crops like onion, wheat, tomato were damaged in the rain.

The Nashik city too witnessed rain in Deolali camp, Bhagur, Nashik road, Shinde Palse and Ambad area . A tree fell on a car in Arunodaya society at Indiranagar causing damage.

Electricity was interrupted at various places in Nashik city.

The unseasonal rain, however, brought relief from the scorching heat as the temperature was hovering between 42 and 43 degrees celsius, since last couple of days.
