Universities need to give scholars like C V Raman: Prez

Varanasi, May 12 (UNI) President Pranab Mukherjee today expressed concern that in past 50 years no Indian university gave scholars like C V Raman and hence called the need of high standard educational system in the country.
"Indian universities had given great scholars among them few were recipient of Nobel Prize but during the past 50 years, no Indian university gave scholars who could receive the Nobel Prize like C V Raman. We must pay more emphasis on the education system of high standard to fulfill this void," he emphasised.
Delivering centenary year speech of Banaras Hindu University (BHU) at Swatantrata Bhavan on varsity campus here, the President said the BHU has made a remarkable journey during the past 100 years.
