Unique progamme in inventing kickstarts at IITGN

Palaj, Gandhinagar, June 11 (UNI) The maiden intensive six week summer program in inventing, Invent@IITGN kickstarted on Monday at the Indian Institute of Technology Gandhinagar (IITGN), with the additional orientation week for the programme.
The programme, which originated in the US as Invention Factory, is being organized in India for the first time. The selected 20 students in Invent@IITGN are from IITs across the country including IIT Kharagpur, IIT Madras, IIT Guwahati, IIT Jammu and IIT Gandhinagar.
The students will work as teams of two, and each of the ten teams will conceive ten inventions, prototype them, “pitch” them, write and file a US patent application. The teams will compete for a first prize of Rs two lakh for “Best Invention” and a second prize of Rs one lakh for 'Second Best Invention'.

Bengaluru, April 26 (UNI) As the Lok Sabha elections unfold in Karnataka, the Election Commission of India on Friday reported an overall voter turnout of 50.93 percent by 3 pm, with Dakshina Kannada emerging as the frontrunner with a robust 58.76 percent participation rate.
