Unfazed valour

Unfazed valour

We have read about many heroic lives. Rani Lakshmibai and Rani Durgavati were valiant women who gained prominence in the pages of history. However, not only in the past but in today’s world too there are ladies who have fought adversity and emerged triumphant. Nidhi Dubey is a glorious example.

Hailing from Bina – a small town in Madhya Pradesh’s Sagar Division – she is the state’s first veer nari to clear the rigorous drilling at the Officers’ Training Academy, Chennai and pass with flying colours to become a commissioned officer of the Army Ordnance Corps in Jhansi. It has certainly been no cakewalk.

Witnessing the passing out parade in Chennai on September 9 – with Nidhi smartly turned out – was an overwhelming experience for her family and friends. A pipping ceremony followed, surrounded by kith and kin. It was a scene that moistened the eyes of her parents. On seeing his mother in uniform, Nidhi’s son Suyash remarked, “Mummy, you are looking so beautiful. I will also join the Army.”
