Jammu, May 22 (UNI) The Jammu on Sunday celebrated the inclusion of local lad Umran Malik in T20 Indian squad against South Africa by dancing to the tunes of drums and distributing sweets.
The relatives, neighbourers and loved ones rushed to the residence of Umran Malik, who is busy with IPL to congratulate his family with buckets of sweets and fruits.
They garlanded the family.
Son of a fruit vendor, Abdul Rashid Malik, for whom business was as usual even when his speedster son caught the eyes of the selectors in the IPL season with fastest deliveries with a speed between 152 to 157 kmph, said, "he has made everyone proud. He worked hard for this."
Malik said that his dedication and commitment since from the childhood days towards cricket, earned him this space.
"Whole nation showered blessings upon him from the day one when he delivered fastest delivery in the IPL. We want him to scale more heights and he keeps the national flag high in the world with his performance," said the proud father.
"It is a proud moment for every cricketer of Jammu and Kashmir and we are sure that he (Umran Malik) will make every citizen of the country proud with his spells in future as well," Brig (retd) Anil Gupta, Administrator, J&K Cricket Association told UNI in a reaction.
"We are trying to produce more like Umran Malik, who will represent India at international forum in years to come," he said.
Meanwhile netizens showered praises and congratulation messages to the Speedster for his feat.
