Uma Bharti plans people’s participation to clean banks of Ganga in October

New Delhi, May 17 (UNI) The meeting of the newly-formed working group of Ganga Swachta Manch chaired by Minister for Sanitation and Drinking Water Uma Bharti has decided to spearhead a massive Ganga cleaning and awareness programme in October which Prime Minister Narendra Modi will be invited to lead.
Taking to her twitter handle, Ms Bharti said on Thursday that a massive cleaning Ganga programme is being planned for October in which more than 50 lakh people, including sants and spiritual leaders, inhabitants living on the banks of Ganga, chief ministers, NGOs and others will do ``maha kaar-sewa'' (voluntary service).
``By October a lot of works of Namami Gange will also start to become visible,’’ she said, adding that Minister for Water Resources, Rivers Regeneration and Ganga Rejuvenation Nitin Gadkari will be consulted on a suitable date in October for the movement.
