UK to impose rules next year to limit power of Google, Facebook

London, Nov 27 (UNI) The United Kingdom government said on Friday that the country would create a digital market unit, which would implement a new code for tech giants such as Google and Facebook to provide a level of play in the market and greater protection to consumers.
"A dedicated Digital Markets Unit will be set up to introduce and enforce a new code to govern the behaviour of platforms that currently dominate the market, such as Google and Facebook," the press release said.
According to the cabinet, the new code of conduct will ensure that consumers have more control over how their data is used and small businesses will have more opportunities to promote their products online.
