UK : Sajid Javid eliminated from Tory leadership race

London, Jun 20 (UNI) Home secretary Sajid Javid on Thursday was knocked out from the race of Tory leadership race after the result of the fourth round of the Conservative party's leadership contest.

The Home Secretary received 34 votes in the fourth ballot of Conservative MPs , four fewer than he received in the previous vote. Boris Johnson was once again the clear winner, with 157 votes up from 143.

Environment Secretary Michael Gove took second place with 61 votes, while Jeremy Hunt received 59 votes, Evening Standard reported.

A fifth round of voting will take place this afternoon to determine which final two candidates will compete to replace Theresa May in Downing Street.

MPs will cast their vote in the ballot between 3.30pm and 5.30pm, with the result due shortly after 6pm.

The final two candidates will then be put to a postal vote by 160,000 Tory party members nationwide. The winner of the contest will be announced in late July.
