Twelve held on charges of illegal trading of Pangolin

Hyderabad, Aug 3 (UNI) Telangana Forest officials have arrested 12 people out of 15 on the charges of hunting and illegal trade of Pangolin and Pangolin scales.
Based on reliable information a team lead by Forest Divisional Officer Wildlife Management (WLM)- Kinnerasani Damodar Reddy inquired a suspicions person near Kothagudem and on verification, staff have recovered 10 pangolin scales wrapped in a polyethene cover from him and took him in to custody, a statement here said on Monday.
Further enquiry, he revealed his name as Badavth Ravi of Kothagudem and confessed that he had purchased these scales from a person in Bhadrachalam in Chintur for Rs 10,000 and was proceeding to Chandrapur to search for a buyer while he was arrested and during further investigation he further confessed that 5 pangolin scales are available with Shaik Rafi of Guntur who along with Ramchander Karmakar of Hyderabad and Soma Mani Prasad of Hyderabad are planning to sell pangolin scales in Hyderabad.
