Trust board constituted for management of Emar mutt

Puri, Nov 11 (UNI) The Odisha state Commissioner of Endowment has constituted
a five member Trust board for the Emar mutt to look after it's religious services
rendered to Sri Jagannath temple and its own festivities.
The five- member body comprised of Researcher on Jagannath culture Naresh
Chandra Dash, social activist Pratima Mishra, Advocate Banabihari Sahu and
Executive Engineer Roads and Building, Puri as members would also look after
the management of mutt property.
Jhanjapita mutt Mahant Satchidanand Das would head the Trust Board .
Emar Mutt Mahant Rajgopal Ramanuj Das was arrested by police In 2011
along with others in connection with theft of silver ingots from the mutt. Later
the Mahant was and sent to jail.
The Police in presence of magistrate recovered 522 pieces of silver ingots
weighing over 18 tons worth more than Rs 100 crore from a secret room inside
the mutt.
After the Mahant was arrested and sent to jail, the commissioner of Endowment
had constituted an ad-hoc body of trustees to ensure continuance of religious
services and its own religious traditions.
Later, permanent bodies were formed. Since the tenure of the last board expired
a new body was constituted.
Mahant Rajgopal who was released on bail is now residing in the mutt complex
occupying ten rooms.
The entire buildings in the mutt complex ,declared as unsafe, was recently razed
to ground by the administration but Rajgopal refused to vacate his residence in
mutt which was also declared unsafe.
