Tripura: TSECL extends power trading deal with Bangladesh till 2026

Agartala, Dec 5 (UNI) The Ministry of Power has renewed power sell agreement with it’s Bangladesh counterparts last week in Dhaka to supply maximum up to 192 MW power from Tripura for another five years, it was reported on Sunday.
Deputy Chief Minister holding the power portfolio Jishnu Dev Varma said that Tripura is one of the few power surplus states in the country and as per the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signed between the two countries in January 2010, Tripura State Electricity Corporation Ltd (TSECL) had been supplying 160 MW power daily to Bangladesh till March this year.
However, the power supply to Bangladesh was stopped since April this year because the meeting of both the countries has not happened due to the COVID pandemic and restrictions on international travel, Dev Varma said adding that officials of People’s Republic of Bangladesh signed a tripartite supplementary agreement in Dhaka on December 2 last to continue the power trading at a mutually agreed price and procedure.
