Tripura SI found hanging in bedroom

Agartala, Feb 27 (UNI) Investigation was launched after the recovery of the hanging body
of a young police officer last night in the government quarter within East Agartala police
station premise in a mysterious circumstance.
Police today said the preliminary investigation believed it was suicide, though the family
members of the victim claimed it a murder.
The senior police officers including Deputy Inspector General (DIG) Southern Range
visited the spot and interacted with the family members.
According to report, deceased police sub-inspector Jayanta Baidya (34) posted in
Ranirbazar police station of eastern outskirt of Agartala was blessed with a baby boy a
few hours before he was found hanging. While his wife was in Agartala Govt Medical
College and newborn boy was in ICU, Baidya was in the quarter with his mother and
younger brother Prasanta during the incident.
Prasanta said after evening tea, Jayanta went to his bedroom for rest and an hour later
when he had gone to call the brother found him hanging in a low height with the window
grill. Immediately, he raised alarm and policemen from a nearby area released the body
and shifted him to the hospital where Jayanta was declared dead.
According to report, Jayanta was depressed for past few days, as an internal investigation
on his alleged involvement in drug paddling racket was underway. A number of investigations
were pending with him and he was under severe pressure from several corners, which made
his family to believe that he was murdered in the room.
