Tripura processes providing 30,000 fresh social pensions

Agartala, Sep 30 (UNI) Amid disagreement by both ruling and opposition over discarding 50,000 social pension holders while deciding to include 30,000 beneficiaries afresh, Tripura government issued notification seeking application for new entries from tomorrow for one and half month.
Soon after BJP-IPFT government came into power two and half years ago, the administration was mobilized to scrutinize the genuine beneficiaries before enlarging the list. The BJP had promised in 2018 assembly to increase the social pension of Rs 1,000 to Rs 2,000 but it has yet to be implemented.
Social Welfare Minister Santana Chakma said that recently the state cabinet decided to include 30,000 new pensions to eligible poor people of the state. The applications for the new entries would be received through various camps organized in consultation with Panchayat Samity during the period.
