States » East » CAEPosted at: May 23 2019 10:03PM Tripura HC dismisses CPM’s petition seeking fresh poll in WestAgartala, May 23 (UNI) In a big blow to opposition Left Front, High Court of Tripura on Thursday dismissed a petition of CPI (M) nominee Shankar Prasad Datta who sought fresh elections in the West Tripura parliamentary seat challenging ECI decision of holding re-poll in 168 booths.Justice Arindam Lodh rejected the petition filed by Datta after hearing both the parties. The high court had issued notice to ECI on May 17 last after admitting the petition, which had been filed with the advice of Supreme Court. The court advised the petitioner to move petition to election tribunal only after the entire process of election is over.Earlier, Datta filed a petition in the Supreme Court seeking directives on its part to the Election Commission for holding fresh polls in the West Tripura seat.
