Tripura CM leads walk with Tiranga, Deputy CM skips

Agartala, Aug 12 (UNI) Tripura Chief Minister Manik Saha on Friday led a rally propagating ‘Har Ghar Tiranga’ or raising of the tricolour from August 13-15 in each house in the state to mark the 75th year of India’s independence.
However, the Deputy Chief Minister and senior party leader Jishnu Dev Varma skipped the rally.
Though Dev Varma remained mum on the issue, one of his close associates said: "Dev Varma was upset with the arrangement of the programme where the Deputy CM's name was missing in the invitation card and a junior most minister embossed his photograph in the front along with those of the Chief Minister and Prime Minister Narendra Modi, violating the protocol and culture of BJP."
Union Minister of State for Social Justice and Empowerment Pratima Bhowmik, Members of Parliament, Mayor of Agartala Municipal Corporation Dipak Majumdar,, ministers of the state cabinet and eminent personalities took part in the rally organised under the aegis of Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav to encourage the people to bring the tricolour home and hoist it to mark the historic occasion.

State Information and Cultural Affairs Minister Sushanta Chowdhury said the Tripura government has launched Har Ghar Tiranga across the state up to the grassroots level as mandated by the Prime Minister..
“To mark the 75th year of India’s Independence, the state government has launched a series of programme to promote national integration, evoke patriotism and launch initiatives of social well-being across the state. The last pre-independence celebration programme was ‘Walk with Tiranga’ from Gandhi statue to Ujjayanta palace,” Chowdhury stated.
He said a target has been set to hoist 5.37 lakh National Flags in the state on August 13-15 and flags were distributed through 3372 government outlets and social volunteers at the household level among the citizens.
