Tributes paid to Rajiv on his 75th birth anniversary

Puducherry, Aug 20 (UNI) Floral tributes were paid to former Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi on his 75th birth anniversary here on Tuesday.



Chief Minister V Narayanasamy, his Cabinet Colleagues, Speaker Sivakozhunthu, Congress legislators are among others who garlanded the statue of Rajiv Gandhi at Ellapillaichavady.



AICC General Secretary Mukil Wasnik, Secretary Sanjay Dutt, Pradesh Congress Committee (PCC) functionaries and volunteers also garlanded the statue on the occasion.



Verses from Bhagavat Gita, Koran and Bible were read out at the pedestal of the statue and Chief Minister administered the Sadbhavana pledge to the gathering.



Earlier, rich tributes were paid to a decorated portrait of the late leader at the PCC office here in which Chief Minister and other leaders participated.

Sweets were distributed to the people on the occasion.



Chief Secretary Ashwini Kumar administered the Sadbhavana pledge to the staff at Chief secretariat here.



Being the 75th birth annversary , the PCC organized a function at Kamban Kalai Arangam where welfare items were distributed to over 400 poor people from across Puducherry.
